July 30, 2010 - Recently we have had isolated instances of premature friction hub wear in the new KOMET spec clutch. (worn lining material)
Most of this wear
can be attributed to two factors:
1—grease and oil inside the clutch from entrée thru the holes in the drum.
2---the driving technique
know as trail braking.
We suggest the following remedies for this issue:
1---cleaning the clutch EVERY session by spraying brake kleen thru
the holes in the drum.
2---removal of the drum every 4—5 sessions and cleaning the friction pads themselves and the drum with a rag soaked in
brake kleen.
3---tell the driver to not depress both pedals at the same time (in particular on the line up laps)
